Useful Resources for Irish Genealogy
If, like me, you have discovered some Irish ancestors, have no fear - although they can be notoriously difficult to trace, there are a few resources which might just aid you in your research!
- Roots Ireland: this website provides parish records (for a fee), and also contains lots of information which can help you to uncover your Irish origins. Link: https://www.rootsireland.ie
- Irish Genealogy: very similar to Roots Ireland, but still worth checking out. Link: https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en
- Ancestry Ireland: not to be confused with Ancestry! This website provides users with birth, marriage and death records, along with censuses and street directories, etc. Link: http://www.ancestryireland.com/
- National Library of Ireland: this site provides free access to the Irish Roman Catholic parish registers, although you will have to go through them manually rather than typing a name into a search bar! Link: https://registers.nli.ie/
- Timeline Genealogy in Ireland: another excellent resource. I particularly like their free guide on tracing Irish ancestors. Link: https://timeline.ie/tracing-irish-ancestors-online/
If you happen know of any other useful resources, feel free to get in touch!
