Bringing the English Civil War to Life: The 379th Anniversary of the Battle of Chalgrove Field
379 years ago today (18th June 2022), the Battle of Chalgrove Field took place in Oxfordshire, resulting in the death of Parliamentarian hero John Hampden, who died six days later due to infected wounds sustained in the fray.
As part of Thame's 'Summer Spectacular', The Sealed Knot Society - an English Civil War reenactment group - brought this skirmish to life, by reconstructing it in all its glory!
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and would highly recommend that you go and watch them for yourself, if you haven't already done so!
